About Perran Wharf Cottage & Surrounding area
Perran Wharf is conveniently located in the village of Perranarworthal on the A39 between Truro and Falmouth. This beautiful grade 2 listed cottage is ideally placed . Its location at the head of Restronguet Creek means it’s an idyllic holiday destination. Areas of outstanding natural beauty are within walking distance and the tranquil Fal Estuary is a great place for a holiday away from the pressures of everyday life.
A short drive away is the harbour town of Penryn, which has a museum, an historical Penryn Viaduct and a range of amenities to suit everyone, whether you want to go shopping for gifts and antiques, out for a drink or for a fancy meal.
A little further there are some gorgeous sandy beaches such as Swanpool Beach, Castle Beach and Gyllyngvase Beach, as well as the popular port town of Falmouth which is home to the National Maritime Museum of Cornwall and the hilltop Pendennis Castle, which has interactive activities for children and a view of the estuary from the keep.
If the coast doesn’t tickle your fancy then head to the stunning city of Truro, home to a Gothic cathedral, a popular museum and a good selection of pubs, restaurants and independent stores that spill out onto the streets, or head along the river to Skinner’s Brewery for an unforgettable tour.
Healey’s Cornish Cyder Farm makes for a wonderful day out with it’s wonderful tours, a quaint petting zoo and the imposing 16th century manor of Trerice where you can admire the amazing architecture and intricate detailing of period furnishings, before grabbing a bite to eat at the on-site restaurant. Or take a visit to the vibrant town of Newquay, home to attractions such as the Perranporth Boating Lake, Newquay Zoo, Towan Headland and Huer’s Hut. The perfect setting for seeing all that Cornwall had to offer, whether land or sea!
Perran Wharf Cottage is a stones throw to the The Norway Inn. It has plenty of character, with an extensive bar area and plenty of cosy nooks and corners where you can sit and eat, or relax on a sofa and enjoy specialty coffees, fine wines and award-winning ales. They have an extensive menu, plus lots of daily specials, all using fresh, local seasonal ingredients.
Perran Wharf Cottage (once a holiday home to the late Stirling Moss in the 1970’s) is situated in Perranarworthal. This three bedroom detached grade II listed cottage has been sympathetically modernised. In addition the property enjoys parking for two cars and it has a small garden space which has been fenced in to keep children and dogs safe from the main road.
Accommodation
You enter the property into a spacious living/dining room. At one end there is a traditional Cornish range and window to the front aspect. There’s a dining table with six chairs and 2 comfy sofas to chill out on. To the opposite end there is a central log burner to one wall and a wall mounted television with Sky TV, Netflix and Amazon Prime. Stairs rise to the first floor and seating area underneath.
The original wooden floor runs the full span of this room. The kitchen/breakfast room is fitted with a range of wall and base mounted storage units set under a hardwood work surface area complete with a Belfast-style sink and breakfast bar and four stools. Fitted dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge freezer and range cooker. This room enjoys great natural light due to the front aspect window and two Velux windows.
Off the opposite end of the living room there is a useful wet room and w/c for de-sanding when you return from the beach. This can be accessed from the side of the property, the door that opens to the side garden. Stairs rise from the living room to the first floor landing. Doors lead off the landing to all the 3 bedrooms and bathroom.
The main king size bedroom is to one end of the house and has a vaulted ceiling with exposed beam work and a double aspect with windows to the front and side. There are two further bedrooms (one with a king size bed and the smaller room with a day bed with an additional pull out bed underneath) with front aspects. They are complemented by a bathroom with freestanding bath and separate shower cubicle.
